Taylor Thornburg, IT Manager, was born and raised in Rock Hill, South Carolina. From a young age, he enjoyed electronics and computers apart (and sometimes getting them back together). He studied Computer Science and Theatre at Wofford College in Spartanburg; SC and he continued his Theatre studies at Winthrop University. He has been at PFC since the beginning of 2023.
His “IT career” technically started in high school and college when he would build custom PCs for spare cash and help his friends and family with their computer issues. Officially, he has been in the IT field for almost 15 years. He has done everything from running cable, helpdesk support, and network engineering to managing support teams and projects for mid-sized corporations. Problem-solving and troubleshooting are a big part of supporting technology, and he tries to apply those skills to any issues he faces at work.
Taylor has a passion for technology, and he enjoys sharing his passion with his daughter saying, “I like to spend time playing some of her favorite video games together, then show her how the technology works that allow those games to be played. I also have a focus on cyber security; in my downtime, I find myself watching videos or studying the latest techniques and standards in that space.” He loves music, any chance that he gets Taylor is listening to a random playlist of his favorite songs or playing an acoustic cover of popular rap songs with friends.
When asked about his favorite part about working at PFC Brakes Taylor said, “Being a part of a family owned, business allows for a more streamlined method of communication and collaboration. Also, the level of talent at PFC is the best; we have top-tier engineers, managers, and operators that make the IT support significantly more refreshing than I have seen in other environments. Each day presents new challenges and puzzles, I enjoy being able to solve problems and troubleshoot in a new environment. Coming from the healthcare industry, I look forward to applying my knowledge and experience here at PFC Brakes.”
