On a beautiful Sunday afternoon in Pensacola FL, thirty seven drivers competed for the Tom Dawson Trophy. Of those thirty seven Super Late Models, twenty four were PFC equipped. For most of the race it appeared that Derek Torn was destined to win the Snowball Derby; however Chandler Smith had other ideas. In a move that remains up for debate, Smith used his front bumper to pass Thorn after a restart on lap 287 and pulled away to victory and claim the 54th Snowball Derby title.
